Horseshoe
Horseshoe
Don't you just love the letter 'H'? I do. Especially after seeing a fragment of what once was one of many illuminated hotel signs in Las Vegas, NV.
Driven by an inherent love and fascination with typography, the famous ‘H’ illuminated sign once seen outside of Binion’s Horseshoe Casino is the source of inspiration for this double-exposure photographic, mixed media object. It's the ultimate culmination of construction, materials, design, light and functionality. How could anyone dare think of throwing it away?
Horseshoe is part of a visually exploratory series of works that visually suggest a simple abstraction in imagery through the use of a stacked square, or rectangle. The result is a highly-manipulated fragmentation that proposes a randomly reorganized subject matter in order to create a new view on a potentially once identifiable landscape.
